Mechanical Properties of Ductile Iron Pipes
Ductile iron properties are the result of the adjunction of a small
quantity of magnesium to the grey iron. After adjunction of magnesium
to the iron, carbon crystallizes into graphite spheres enhancing the
exceptional mechanical properties of the Ductile or Spheroidal Graphite
Iron. In addition to excellent yield strength, it offers excellent tensile
strength and impact strength, Ductile Iron is keeping all the corrosion
resistant properties already known with grey iron.
