PIPE STORAGE
1. The site for storage of DI pipes shall have a
firm foundation for stacks. The storage area shall be flat and there shall be no corrosive materials on the ground or in the immediate surroundings of the storage area.
2. Ductile iron pipes shall always be stacked on a base of raised wooden battens. The battens shall be made of sound timber free from protrusions and at least 100 mm thick and 70 mm wide.
3. Prior to stacking pipes it is recommended to fix any damages that may have occurred on the lining or coating.
4. In case pipes have to be stored for a period exceeding 6 months it is highly recommended to keep them in a dry area and protected from bad weather conditions and over exposure to sun light.
5. Handling devices such as crane hooks or fork lift forks shall be covered with a smoothing protection (plastic or rubber) to prevent damages of the pipe coating or lining during lifting and handling operations.
6. Pipes shall be stacked by diameters.
7. Pipes can be stacked in parallel by using rolling boards.
8. The type of stacking and the stacking height shall be determined according to the pipe diameters and the manufacturer recommendations.
  
RUBBER GASKETS STORAGE
1. Rubber gaskets shall be stored in dry and clean place under roof.
2. Temperature of rubber gasket storage shall not be lower than 0°C and not exceeding 35°C.
3. Rubber gaskets shall not be exposed to direct sun light or artificial light with high UV share.
4. Ozone is especially harmful for rubber gaskets, so in the storage room there should be no equipment generating ozone (mercury lamps etc.), powerful electrical machines, electrical motors or other equipment which could provoke appearance of electric sparks or slow electrical discharge.
5. Conditions of rubber gaskets storage should prevent any kind of their deformation.
